Dead by April are Sweden's latest buzzworthy band, and have given us a taste of what their debut album will sound like with this digital single Losing You,
The track is from their self titled debut album which will be released by Spinefarm UK in the summer of 2009. This single has already gone to #1 in the Swedish charts, no mean feat for their debut release. They'd also already been nominated for Rockbjörnens MySpace Award, Best Newcomer at the Swedish Metal Awards and Breakthrough of the Year at the Bandit Awards. They're the band everyone is talking about. So are they going to be the next big thing? On this showing, they could well be.
The single kicks of with some pleasant keys and has that Scandanavian feel. The guitars come in and it's a huge sound, brilliant production and almost orchestral. As soon as the vocals start it's a whole different beast though. It's much more Americanised; like a heavier 30 Seconds to Mars. Imagine Jared Leto with full sleeve tattoos, and large earplugs, putting in some screamo vocals with a bit of a mohawk.
Dead by April are self confessed melodic metallers and state "their fusion of soaring, catching pop melodies that reaches deep within you, almost forcing you to sing combined with their healthy dose of relentless metal riffing resulting in the unique feel of both pop and metal scene in the bands mix". Fans of Linkin Park and 30 Seconds to Mars but who like things a bit more metal will love this stuff. If this is a taste of what’s to come then the album is going to be huge.
