Being the first of three acts in one night is never an easy task to pull off, especially when you are a band who has an audience ready for overdrive. However, Manchester’s home grown rockers Dear Superstar, managed to grab their set by the horns, fire up the audience and perform like they were headlining.

Dear Superstar opened their set by hosing down the audience with water from their mouths. They may have sprayed water all over but it didn’t dampen their performance. The cocktail of the untamed vocals from Micky Satiar, the feisty guitar skills of Adam Smethurst and Stewart Milton, the thunderous bass lines of Ben Grimsley and the brutal drumming of Benj Ashmead, produced an animalistic performance ravenous for some hard core rock and roll.

From their first song to their last, Dear Superstar nailed their stage presence. Amongst the head banging, Micky enticed the audience to clap their hands in the air, and with his blazing eyes burning through the audience, he made it pretty much impossible to say no.

As they belted out the song Brothers in Blood, the stage was ridden red raw. The band had their foot on full throttle and showed no intention of slowing down. From Stewart and Adam’s opening riff to Micky’s rustic vocals they gave the show rock DNA.

They raised Hell as they ripped up the stage with the song Damned Religion. Even though the stage was literally basic, the band pulled off an electrifying show minus the props.

From their showery entrance, to their fiery exit Dear Superstar gave an infectious and ruthless performance. Even though their set was short, they showed a natural connection with the audience and their performance was as tight as a vice. Dear Superstar once sang ‘we’ve built it, rocked it’, and from that performance it was clear they meant every damn word of it!
