Since Grave decided to start recording albums again in 2002 they have been releasing new albums like it’s going out of schedule and right on schedule Burial Ground is here!

First things first, this still sounds very Grave-like, from the vocals to the guitar sound but somehow this time round everything seems just that bit heavier, especially the bass sound. This gives it a much doomier sound than previous works and works better when they take things down tempo, notably the outro to Dismembered Mind. A nice little touch about that specific track is Matti Kärki from Dismember wrote the lyrics, pun intended surely!

From start to finish it is pretty much like being punched in the face as each track goes for maximum impact both with the aforementioned heaviness and riffs that are guaranteed to get you pulling that gurning face. Things practically stray into Crowbar territory in terms of super sonic immensity for the title track itself.

It’s good to hear this subtle change in sound as opposed to releasing another album going down a similar route as those which came, before but at the same time not veering too much from the path and keeping the Swedish Death Metal spirit going strong.
