The latest self-titled album from the aggressive and progressive metallers, myGRAIN, has everything it needs to bring these talented and ruthless Finns to the attention of metal fans everywhere. They found their feet in previous albums and now they’re confident in their shoes and fusing powerful music with impressive melodies, sometimes being modern and other times sticking to their passion for the traditional.
Formed from the ashes of New Science Band, Helsinki based myGrain are determined to deliver their own niche of melodic death metal with technicality and rough pop, alongside plenty of random subject matter and shattering guitar riffs. They’ve worked out their own balance of melodic metal and metalcore on this record, with the odd electronic and death metal elements, something that gains them a fair amount of individuality.
There’s something on every track that makes it stand out in the modern metal world, whether it’s dynamic drumming, clean vocals, surprising breakdowns or chaotic riffs. Without doubt one of the finest albums in myGrain’s discography.
