Pause for thought; have you ever wondered what more Cambridge has to offer apart from the English department at the University? Well here’s a suggestion, there’s this five piece rock n roll band called The Treatment, who’ve shot right out of Cambridge and straight into the recording studio with their debut album This Might Hurt; FYI, you won’t need a degree to remember them!

The first shot at goal is the restless Departed. What an opening! Its agitated, cutting edge riffs are just melting! I mean, the nifty solo will leave your face on the floor! It’s tight and sharp and just right on target; or to put it bluntly, it’s how an album should lose its first song virginity!

Next on the test is The Doctor.  As soon as the cogs begin to turn it relishes that seductive ‘come and av a go if ya think you're ‘ard enough’ appeal to it. Put it this way, if this song was a bike chain, it would never need oiling! Their musical suppleness is infinite! Scrap the phrase ‘take me to the doctor, change it to ‘let me hear the doctor’!

Enter track three and we get I Want Love. By flaunting its flirtatious riffs, suggestive lyrics (to say the least) and fluent rhythm, the song is a lip-biting display of the ‘cut me a piece of that cake’ attitude! Let’s face it, seeds like these are pretty much essential if you’re gonna sow a good rock n roll album! I think they made their point on this one!

By the time we hit track five D***K, F**K, F***T, I think we get the idea of where the album is going; it doesn’t take a genius to fill in the missing letters.  It has ‘no rest for the wicked’ written all over it! It’s one of those songs where if you were at a gig, this song would leave you, red in the face, breathless and sweating! That is how it should be done!

If there was ever a song you would want to put on your iPod playlist it’s Shake the Mountain. It’s epic! With the soul shredding ‘I don’t take no shit’ attitude, it shows that it’s not only a song, it’s a statement! Song of the album by far! Now that’s what I’m talkin’ about!

Following on from a song like Shake the Mountain isn’t exactly a walk in the park. However, I Fear Nothing still has that angsty, burning grit to keep the album fluent!

Hail to the leather jackets and bring on track eleven, Road Rocket. It’s ‘cock rock’ at its finest! All you have to do is listen to the drum beats which are as fast as a musical equivalent of Top Gear, and you’ll think ‘yea, it doesn’t seem right listening to this song sitting down’! It’s fast, it’s furious and there’s no holding it back! Step back for a moment and ask yourself, is there such a thing as a vocal gymnast? Maybe this song has the answer!

As we slide into the bonus tracks, we are waved goodbye with Just Tell Me Why. Now, since the album all the way through has been hot fuzz, it’s nice to be sent off with an acoustic song. It’s a knockout exhibition of how they can delve into other areas and make a damn good job of it! If this song was a pint of beer, it would be like velvet! It goes down so easily and is about as mouth-watering as it gets!

This Might Hurt is just a manifestation of ceaseless talent! They couldn’t have made a better hallmark if they tried! It may be called This Might Hurt, but for their first shot, they’ve made a bloody good cure! Rock n roll is best served meaty and raw, so my advice is crank up your stereos because This Might Hurt still has the blood dripping off it!
